Occupational Therapy Assistant students from the Ft. Lauderdale campus visited Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. As part of the preclinical course, students visited the trauma unit, spinal cord injury unit, burn unit, and outpatient hand therapy. They were able to see occupational therapy intervention with real patients at different levels of care, along the treatment continuum. Students exposure to the hospital’s rehabilitation units prepare them to transition into fieldwork practice, which is scheduled for the summer semester.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
