A Tampa Occupational Therapy Assistant instructor, Fernanda Mira, had a guest speaker during a pediatrics course.  Kimberly Lamke, OTR/L from Kidpro, who is an advisory board member and fieldwork educator was kind enough to bring in one of her client’s, Stephen, to help teach our pediatric course.  The students learned so much from both of them.

In schools, hospitals, childcare programs and in the home, occupational therapists help children learn to physically adjust to physical, emotional, mental and other problems, such as a broken bone or a brain injury. Working with family members, caregivers and other health care providers, OTs develop strategies to strengthen children and teach them new skills.
