The Student Dietetic Association (SDA) from the Pembroke Pines campus lent a helping hand in the fight against hunger. The SDA took time to sort, inspect and re-pack donated food at Feeding South Florida’s main warehouse located at 2501 SW 32nd Terrace in Pembroke Park. The SDA sorted 4644 lbs. of food and ultimately provided 3,870 meals. Feeding South Florida rescues and distributes more than 40 million pounds of food per year to help the hungry. This food is then distributed to a network of non-profit partners like soup kitchens and food pantries. Feeding South Florida relies on the support of volunteers in the sort room with 10 volunteer shifts every week. The SDA would like to thank Volunteer Coordinator Charlotte VanDyken. Participants from Keiser’s SDA included Carly Fazio, Gabriela Chiriac, Yolanda Johnson, Kenneth Snyder, SDA officers Christina Gabrielle, Ariel Rasabi, Karen Two Shoes & John Fuller and Dietetics & Nutrition instructors Dr. Ioana Scripa and Professor Jennifer Keil.
