Last November, the Port St. Lucie campus held a concert to raise money for an organization in St. Louis, Missouri called ‘Six String Heroes’.  They are a not for profit organization that teaches veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder to play the guitar and they provide each veteran who completes the lessons with a guitar.  The event was able to raise $700, which was sent directly to ‘Six String Heroes’ to aid in providing these services to veterans.

As a result of this event, our student veterans association has agreed to establish ‘Symphony of Soldiers’, a not for profit organization to support the veterans here in South Florida.  The Student Veterans of America association received donations of music lessons from a local music school, Bach Children’s School of Music and the donation of two guitars from a local pawn shop.  One of the participants in the event has volunteered to partner with the student veterans to assist in fund raising in order to launch the ‘Symphony of Soldiers’.  The Dean has challenged the students by giving them one year to complete what they need to do to establish ‘Symphony of Soldiers’.

This video is a compilation of images from that day set to an original song created to support our veterans.  The video was filmed and edited by our Graphic Arts Design students.
