Dr. Bridgewater has worked in Education for 38 years. Her educational back ground includes four degrees in education from the University of Alabama Systems. Dr. Bridgewater has degrees in Special Education: B.S. in Mental Retardation; M.S. Specific Learning Disabilities; Ed.S. Educational Leadership; and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a minor in Special Education Law.
Professionally, Dr. Bridgewater has served as a special education Teacher, Professor in Special Education, as well as a Supervisor of Special Education Programs during the last 38 years. During this time period, Dr. Bridgewater developed and established the Preschool Program for students with disabilities for a local school system. Dr. Bridgewater also served as the systems liaison with other service providers serving persons with disabilities. While providing special education services, Dr. Bridgewater worked with students meeting the following areas of disabilities: Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disabilities, Specific Disabilities, Autism, Hearing Impaired, Deaf Blind, Other Health Impaired, Emotional disability, Speech and Language Impaired, Traumatic Brain Injury, Visually Impaired, and Orthopedically Impaired.
Presentations in Special Education have included the Individualized Plan, Mastering the Maze, Teacher Collaboration between General Educators and Special Educators,
Differentiating Instruction, Speech and Language Discussion Meetings, Parent Education in Special Education, Special Education and Parent Rights, Due Process Hearings, Documentation in Special Education, Training in Identification, Evaluation and Eligibility for Services under the Individuals With Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA).
Dr. Bridgewater has been employed with Keiser University for the last 4 years. She has participated in two Residencies.
