The Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) provided assistance at NE Focal Point, a daycare for individuals with cognitive deficits. The center offers respite to caregivers and activities to individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other related memory disorders. SOTA plans to continue to volunteer on days on which help is the most needed. SOTA’s involvement at NE Focal Point as a small group will allow students to assist the nurses and recreational therapist, but also have the opportunity to work hands-on with a population of importance in their field.
