Florida’s Independent Colleges and Universities (ICUF) Presidential Fellows descended upon Tallahassee today to showcase their to the Florida legislature.  Larry Alspaugh (KU-Lakeland-Dietetics and Nutrition -USAF) and April Griffin (KU-Ft. Lauderdale-Biomedical Science -USMC) were wonderful stewards today for Keiser University and our entire student body.  Both Fellows spoke to their service to the country in the military along with being working adults with children.  They were poised in their presentations to the members of the Florida House and Senate and were focused, expressing their determined goals of what they wanted from life and this experience.

Across the board, the legislators echoed back their appreciation for KU and to Dr. & Mrs. Keiser.  In totality we met with Commissioner Adam Putnam, Speaker Steve Crisafulli, Speaker Designate Richard Corcoran, Senator Wilton Simpon, Senator Aaron Bean, Senator Denise Grimsley, Senator Garrett Richter, Senator Rene Garcia, Rep. Elizabeth Porter, Rep. Matt Hudson, Rep. Jim Boyd, Rep, Cary Pigman, Rep Bobby Dubose, Rep Dana Young, Rep Erik Fresen, Rep Ritch Workman, Rep Jason Brodeur, and Rep. Charlie Stone.  Larry and April were delighted to meet with these legislators and to express their support of FRAG and extoll the virtues of Keiser University.

While many of the member meetings were great, the highlight for the students was getting to eat lunch with Representative Workman in his office and then getting an exclusive tour of the House floor along with a history lesson of the chamber.
