The Advancing Our Learning Community Committee of the Tallahassee campus held its second STEM Corner, a brown bag round table for the investigation and exchange of information about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. There were fourteen participants including students, staff, and faculty from numerous fields who attended to hear Jon deGiocoechea (IT Instructor and Online Liaison) give a presentation titled “Don’t Get Hooked.” Mr. deGiocoechea discussed cyber security and phishing, while providing valuable tips for keeping personal information safe online. One participant said it was “important but scary information”.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
