The West Palm Beach campus Cross Functional Team, in partnership with the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) & Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) programs, hosted the International Multicultural Fair 2017.
The event was an expansion of the cultural presentations of Australia, Egypt, and Thailand that the OTA students created as a part of their Human Development Across the Lifespan course. The PTA program faculty, Ms. Yahara and Ms. Connerton, along with their students prepared food from the countries of Haiti and Cuba. Nursing faculty member, Dr. Cali and her students provided food and drink from Brazil. Faculty (Ms. Barletta, Mr. Nicolello, Ms. Golonski) and staff (Ms. Caruso) teamed up to bring guests meatballs, pasta, sausage/peppers, and canoli from Italy. Ms. Halli, Math faculty, dressed in traditional clothing from India, and provided food and a bindi for all participants. Ms. Chung, Math faculty, dressed in traditional clothing from Korea and provided a delicious dish. English and Nursing faculty, Mr. Pancho and Mr. Lorinos made a festive and refreshing fruit salad.
The event was a great opportunity to celebrate and learn about the different ethnic, national, and cultural backgrounds that populate our diverse campus.
My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.
