Keiser University ranked No. 5 in social mobility by U.S. News and World Report

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Keiser University was once again named one of the best colleges and universities in the country in providing social mobility to its students according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 Best Colleges ranking. Keiser earned the No. 5 spot in the Top Performers in Social Mobility subcategory and was the No. 1 rated university in Florida for the grouping.

“We are very pleased to earn such high marks in social mobility for a third year in a row,” said Arthur Keiser, Ph.D., Chancellor of Keiser University. “Keiser University is dedicated to providing access and opportunity to a diverse population of students and we’re pleased to include this goal in our commitment to student success.”

The Top Performers in Social Mobility subcategory ranks colleges and universities on their ability to graduate economically disadvantaged students. This is the third year U.S. News has included a ranking for social mobility which is computed by aggregating two ranking factors that measure graduation rates of Pell-awarded students.

Keiser University has continued its climb as one of the best schools in the country for economically disadvantaged students, earning a top spot on the Social Mobility ranking in each of the three years since U.S. News first published the list. In 2020, Keiser took the No. 34 overall spot and in 2021 Keiser ranked No. 11 in the category.

For the 2022 edition, Keiser earned the highest marks in Social Mobility among 14 Florida public and private colleges and universities that earned a spot on the list.

In addition to its spot on the social mobility ranking, Keiser earned a top 400 rating among all schools in the National Universities category. This is only the third year Keiser has been listed in the National University category which includes schools that are mostly research-oriented and offer a full range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Keiser moved from the Regional Universities grouping in 2020 as a result of its Carnegie Classification as a Doctoral/Professional University.

The 2022 US News & World Report rankings assesses more than 1,400 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 metrics and places the largest emphasis on a college’s ability to retain and graduate its students. Other factors include class size, undergraduate academic reputation, and how much a school spends per student on instruction and other related educational expenses.

“As the fifth best university in the country for social mobility, we are honored to continue delivering education that helps our students create positive outcomes in their lives,” said Keiser. “This ranking further reinforces our commitment to providing our students with an education that leads to career success.”

Keiser University enrolls more than 20,000 students at 21 campuses throughout Florida, internationally, and online. For nearly half a century, Keiser University continues to address the talent needs of Florida. Most of Keiser’s academic degrees are in industries identified as emerging or critically needed and address job growth in Florida’s targeted industries.

My instructors believed in me. They were more than instructors, they tried to get to know you as a person and tried to understand your goals so they could push you towards them. Student services helped me find a job before I even graduated. Everyone was dedicated to my overall success.

The instructors at Keiser University impacted my life. They believed in my ability to become a great graphic designer, regardless of how I felt about my skills. KU helped to prepare me for the real world and got me to where I am today.

If not for my education at Keiser I probably would not be where I am today, in both life and career. It is because of going to Keiser and the instructors I had that I joined a club started by Mr. Williams, The Lakeland Shooters Photography Group, which allowed me to venture into an amazing and very creative field that I use to enhance all aspects of my life.

The Design program at Keiser University was filled with real world learning and hands on instruction… Based on the portfolio I created while a student at Keiser University, I landed a job in Graphic Design for a major online retailer immediately after graduation.

It has been great attending and graduating from Keiser University.  Because of the small class sizes, I was able to build good relationships with classmates and professors.  The PA professors care very much about the progress and success of the students and have been great advisors every step of the way through the program.

I chose Keiser because it had everything—small classes, caring professors, hands-on learning, and counselors that are really there for you.  I feel like I’m part of a family here, not just a number.

After being denied for several promotions at my current employer, I decided that I needed to further my education.  Since graduating from Keiser with my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, I have been promoted and I am able to obtain positions that weren’t available to me before.

Beyond the curriculum of the courses, the lessons the instructors have taught me have paid dividends in my real work experiences. How to respond to criticisms, project and time management, interview skills, the list goes on and on. At the end of the day, they not only showed me how to design, but they taught me how to be a professional.

Ryan Bushey

Keiser helped change my life by getting my education at the right school! I had been going to another school before, I dropped out because I felt that I was not getting enough information. When I found out about Keiser, I was pleased because the instructors were great.
