Several Keiser University West Palm Beach campus Associate of Science in Nursing program students are one-step closer to professions in the field thanks to virtual ‘panel style’ mock interviews.
Led by Student Services Department leaders Elizabeth Houlihan and Michelle Chung, the group was able to prepare for future interviews as they gained insights from local nurses and other healthcare hiring professionals. The lesson included valuable interactions, as candidates presented cover letters, resumes, and reference lists, and followed-up with thank you letters. Designed to prepare students to successfully transition into careers, the sesson concluded with a helpful question and answers session.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Nursing prepares students to practice professional nursing. Professional nursing involves the performance of those acts requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skill based upon applied principles of biological, physical, psychological, and social sciences. The nursing practice of a professional nurse includes but is not limited to:
- Assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care
- Health teaching and counseling of individuals who may be ill, injured or infirm
- Promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others
- Administration of treatments and medications as prescribed by the standards of nursing practice
