The Port St. Lucie Pediatric Nursing students organized and planned a health fair focusing on child safety for their final project of the semester. Topics included childproofing the home, firearm safety, internet safety, car seat safety, medication safety, and “stranger danger”. One group also chose to highlight the benefits of breastfeeding since August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. The students identified topics they felt passionate about and had positive feedback following the event. By taking the project outside of the classroom, they were given the opportunity to educate the public and participate in health promotion activities.
