Recently, students of Keiser University’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program had the opportunity to volunteer time and service at The Community Cooperative. Part of a national initiative for occupational therapy providers is to return to the roots of the profession, community-based work. That being said, students of the Fort Myers campus were able to serve the community and specifically those less fortunate. The students assisted in the delivery of hot breakfast and lunch to those in need, packed and sealed meals for Meals on Wheels, and assisted customers in the community pantry. What the students took away was invaluable–selfless work is truly the most rewarding.
