Jacksonville’s Bachelor in Sports Medicine & Fitness Technology  students visited 1st Place Sports as a field trip for the Advanced Care & Prevention of Athletic Injury course. The class covered common overuse injuries of the foot, ankle, and lower leg, such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and shin splints.

One of the students had her foot posture and running gate analyzed by a running specialist and was fitted for running shoes specifically for her. Along with finding the right running shoes for Krystin, the running specialist fitted her for shoe inserts to assist in supporting her foot arch. In addition, the students were informed that wearing polyester blend socks, compared to cotton, can help prevent friction and blisters.
